The Chief Judge of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Justice Husseini Baba Yusuf, has inaugurated the FCT Area Council Election Appeal Tribunal, charging its members to uphold impartiality, integrity, and strict adherence to the law in the resolution of election disputes.
This is coming just a few days after the Chief Judge inaugurated the Election Petition Tribunal, ahead of the February 21st Area Council elections.
Justice Yusuf described the tribunal’s establishment as a crucial constitutional exercise aimed at safeguarding democratic governance at the grassroots level and maintaining public confidence in the judiciary.
He emphasized that the tribunal’s role is not to confer political advantage or bow to public pressure, but to administer justice strictly in line with the Constitution and relevant electoral laws.
