Sixty-two criminal camps have been dismantled in Anambra State over the past five years, as authorities intensify efforts to restore peace and stability.
Governor Chukwuma Soludo disclosed this on Wednesday after meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
He said sustained security operations, carried out in collaboration with federal security agencies and local security outfits, have significantly degraded criminal networks operating within the state.
According to the governor, the protection of lives and property remains the primary responsibility of government, stressing that insecurity cannot be addressed without a coordinated and systemic approach.
Soludo commended the Armed Forces, the Police, the Department of State Services, Civil Defence, the Navy, the Air Force, and other paramilitary agencies for working closely with Anambra’s internal security structures to curb crime.
He noted that the South-East region had faced nearly five years of disruptions, including the Monday sit-at-home order, which crippled economic and social activities in many communities.
Declaring that “enough is enough,” Soludo said Anambra is steadily reclaiming its peace, citing improved public confidence and increased movement across the state during the last Christmas festivities.
He clarified that his meeting with President Tinubu was not solely focused on security but emphasized that safeguarding lives and property remains a central priority of his administration.
