TARABA
Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas

Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas has been commended by the State’s National Association of Medical and Dental Students for his education policy that has eased the financial burden of parents and improved the welfare of students.

The students said the upward review of their bursary after decades of stagnation will translate to more professionals in the medical sciences field in the State

The free education initiative for primary and secondary schools, fifty percent subsidy on tuition fees of students in higher institutions of learning and improved bursaries are some of the reforms by the Taraba State Government to make education affordable and accessible.

Students under the auspices of the National Association of Taraba State Medical and Dental Students say the Taraba State Government’s investment in the education sector is paying off, especially on their end.

The students particularly noted that the increase in their bursary, which they have been advocating for decades, came to fruition under Governor Agbu Kefas’ administration.

They say the upward review has eased financial burden for them and their families, aiding them to be more focused on their academics.

The students pledged mandatory three years of service to the State after graduation, and disclosed plans in the pipeline for free medical outreach across the state in partnership with Nigeria Medical Association and the Association of Resident Doctors.

The medical students’ bond agreement with the State Government was initiated in 1994 to support and encourage indigenous Taraba undergraduates in the medical sciences field.
