Former Transportation Minister Chibuike Amaechi has called for calmness following a targeted attack on the African Democratic Congress (ADC) secretariat in his home town, Ubima ward 8 unit 14, despite attempts to block his arrival.
Amaechi successfully completed his party registration, urging supporters to remain peaceful yet resolute.
A massive crowd converged on the Port Harcourt International Airport to welcome the former Transportation Minister, Chibuike Amaechi, leader of the African Democratic Congress in the south south.
The former Governor of Rivers state was en route to his hometown, Ubima, for his formal electronic registration as a member of the ADC.
The journey, however, met a standoff at the entrance of the community, where suspected local vigilantes reportedly barricaded Amaechi and his supporters, attempting to deny them entry.

Undeterred, Amaechi opted to walk to his polling unit on foot and met the relics of the party’s secretariat, an act allegedly carried out by political opponents seeking to frustrate his visit.
Despite the tension, Amaechi successfully completed his electronic registration and appealed to the crowd to be law-abiding, even as he signalled a significant shift toward marching to Aso Rock.
The former minister commended security agencies on their rapid response to the distress call, noting that their intervention prevented further destruction.
He further charged them to ensure that those behind the dastardly act are brought to book.
HE urged the people of Rivers State to register with the ADC and remain vigilant in protecting their votes come election day.
