Edo State Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Daniel Osa-Ogbegie, has resigned his membership of the party, citing what he described as the lack of organisation and cohesion within the opposition space in the country.
In a statement titled “That Edo May Win”, Dan Osa-Ogbegie said the opposition had struggled to organise itself with the clarity, cohesion and forward momentum required to offer a structured political alternative capable of strengthening democracy.
He expressed concern that with only a few weeks to the close of party nominations, there had been no visible expression of interest by credible aspirants on the platform of the PDP or other opposition parties, a development he said calls for sober reflection among those committed to purposeful political engagement.
Osa-Ogbegie nevertheless expressed gratitude to leaders and members of the PDP for the experiences, engagements, and relationships built during his years in the party.

He further disclosed that after observing the emerging administration of Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, he had resolved to step aside from the role of opposition spokesman and lend his support to efforts aimed at ensuring the success of the government.
The former PDP spokesman maintained that while political platforms may change, the ultimate duty of leadership remains acting in ways that serve the collective interest of the people, noting that the triumph that truly matters is the victory of Edo State.
