The opposition African Democratic Congress, ADC, says the recent ruling of the Court of Appeal in the leadership dispute within the party does not in any way change its current leadership structure.
In a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC explained that the appellate court’s decision was strictly procedural and did not address the substantive issues raised in the suit challenging the emergence of Senator David Mark as National Chairman and Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola as National Secretary.
According to the party, the appeal was dismissed on procedural grounds without granting any relief to the plaintiff, and the court made no pronouncement affecting the party’s leadership positions.
The ADC emphasised that the substantive case contesting the leadership of the party is still pending before the Federal High Court of Nigeria, where it is yet to be heard and determined.

The statement further noted that the Court of Appeal directed all parties to maintain the status quo, meaning the existing leadership arrangement remains in place until the Federal High Court decides on the matter.
The party therefore cautioned members and the public against what it described as misleading interpretations of the ruling circulating in some quarters.
Reaffirming its unity, the ADC dismissed the controversy as a deliberate attempt by what it called anti-democratic forces seeking to weaken opposition voices and entrench a one-party dominance in Nigeria.
It however urged supporters across the country to remain calm and stay focused on the party’s programmes and preparations ahead of the 2027 general elections, while the legal process continues.
