The Kano State Government has announced a moderated Eid-el-Fitr Durbar following intelligence reports of potential security threats during the Sallah celebrations.
The decision, reached after consultations with the Kano Emirate Council and key stakeholders, is aimed at safeguarding lives while preserving the state’s rich cultural heritage.
Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Waiya, said government will not compromise the safety of citizens, noting that adjustments have been made to key Durbar activities.
According to him, Hawan Idi will proceed along approved routes, while Hawan Nasarawa will be modified and held without the traditional horseback procession.
Security agencies have been placed on high alert, with directives to intensify surveillance across the state.
Residents have been urged to remain calm, vigilant and cooperate with security operatives.
The government also reassured the public of a peaceful Sallah and extended Eid-el-Fitr greetings to Muslims across Kano State.
