Reactions have begun to trail Mohammed Salah’s planned departure from Anfield at the end of the 2025/2026 season.
The Egyptian forward announced on social media on Wednesday that he will be leaving Liverpool.
Former Liverpool manager, Jürgen Klopp, has described Salah as someone who constantly evolves.
Klopp admitted the forward may not be the easiest player to manage, but certainly not the most difficult, noting that their Premier League triumph bonded them for life.
In his farewell statement, Salah said he cherishes his time at Liverpool and expressed gratitude to everyone he worked with during his stay at Anfield.
He added that Liverpool gave him the best years of his career.
The club, in its statement, confirmed that it has reached an agreement with Salah to bring an end to a remarkable nine-year chapter, drawing the curtain on his illustrious career at Anfield.
Liverpool, however, stressed that the team remains focused on finishing as high as possible this season and will celebrate Salah’s legacy and achievements at the appropriate time.
Salah is expected to leave as a free agent at the end of the season, effectively bringing his current deal to an early close.
Less than a year ago, he signed a contract extension that was meant to keep him at the club until the summer of 2027.
Having originally joined from AS Roma in 2017, Salah has enjoyed a highly successful spell with Liverpool, winning multiple major honours, including the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup, FA Cup, and League Cups.
He has scored 255 goals in 435 appearances, making him the club’s third all-time leading goalscorer, and has won the Premier League Golden Boot on four occasions, alongside numerous individual accolades.
