President Bola Tinubu has issued a strong directive to security agencies to intensify operations, following the deadly attacks in Plateau and Kaduna States, warning that those behind the violence will be decisively dealt with.
The President condemned the attacks in Angwan Rukuba, Jos, Plateau State, and Kahir village in Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State, describing the killings and abduction of wedding guests as barbaric and unacceptable.
In a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on Tuesday, President Tinubu said the attacks were not only acts of brutality but calculated attempts to trigger reprisals and deepen instability.
Quoting the President, the statement said “anyone who attacks defenceless citizens under the cover of darkness is a coward whose actions will not go unpunished.”
President Tinubu has therefore directed security agencies to go after the perpetrators and those spreading false information capable of escalating tensions, stressing clearly that the attacks must not be framed along religious lines.

The President reaffirmed that security agencies are actively responding and called on citizens to cooperate fully, including complying with evacuation and safety directives where necessary.
He also noted the safe return of two victims abducted in Kaduna.
President Tinubu further ordered security agencies to act decisively on intelligence to prevent future attacks and ensure the immediate rescue of all remaining abductees from Kahir village.
He commended Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang and Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani for their response efforts, assuring both states of federal support.
The President also extended condolences to the families of the victims and wished the injured quick recovery, stating that the government is deploying more sophisticated equipment to track and neutralise criminal elements in real time.
