United Nations, UN has laid out a requisite roadmap for attaining sustained peace in troubled parts of the country which includes responsible leadership and careful language, insisting that justice and accountability remain essential as without them peace remains fragile and reconciliation incomplete.
UN Deputy Secretary -General, Amina Mohammed who made this known at the Government House in Makurdi, Benue State, also stressed the need to be mindful of the risks that come when complex crisis are reduced to a narrow or simplified narrative.
Yelwata community of Guma local council of the State still picking up the pieces since last year’s life defining attack that has left countless still displaced necessitating this assessment visit by the UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed who was led by the State Governor, Hyacinth Alia.

She was then shown round the houses being built by the State Government to resettle the survivors before proceeding to the mega camp along Gbajimba road where she also met with other displaced persons including children.
After touring the camps, the UN delegation then proceeded to the Government House in Makurdi, the State capital where the UN Deputy Secretary-General speaks on requirements for sustained peace which includes a broader commitment.
The United Nations as well as the Benue State Government restated their commitment to providing durable solutions,peace building and recovery for the displaced persons.
