The Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has appealed to management of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board to reschedule the examination date for eight candidates of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination kidnapped last Wednesday on their way for the said examination.
Alia made the call when he received the remaining 13 kidnapped victims who were rescued in the early hours of Sunday at the old banquet hall, Government House, Makurdi.
The Governor said the kidnapped victims were victims of circumstances and must not be neglected.
Eight of the thiryeen rescued passengers were indeed JAMB students which the State Governor Hyacinth Alia wants to be reconsidered by the joint examination board.
The chief executive also sympathised with the people of Gwer West for Friday’s attack and calls on security heads to ensure perpetrators were apprehended.
Narrating her ordeal, one of the Eight JAMB candidates Agatha Ternamdoo said they were beaten and threatened for three days, demanding Ten million Naira ransom from each of their parents.
State commissioner for police Ifeanyi Emenari said eight bandits-herdsmen are in custody in connection with the abduction.
