Troops of the 12 Brigade Nigerian Army have intercepted two suspected terrorists’ logistics couriers identified as Malam Zubairu Abubakar and Adamu Abubakar with a large cache of ammunition during operations in Kogi State.
A statement by the Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 12 Brigade Nigerian Army, Lieutenant Hassan Abdullahi explained that on 20 April 2026, troops on snap checkpoint at Response Area Oshokoshoko along the Obajana–Kabba Road in Lokoja Local Government Area intercepted a Toyota bus en route from Makurdi to Obajana.
Lt. Abdullahi noted that a thorough search of the vehicle led to the recovery of a sack containing 314 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition and three AK-47 rifle magazines concealed behind the driver’s seat.

Other items recovered include two mobile phones, one driver’s licence, one National Identification Number slip, and an identity card.
The arrest of Malam Zubairu Abubakar and Adamu Abubakar follows an earlier interception on 29 March 2026 of a high-profile terrorist ammunition courier, Mathew Elisha (alias Nasara), along the Jamata–Owara Road on a specially modified motorcycle.

The suspects and all recovered items have been handed over to 12 Military Intelligence Regiment for further investigation and necessary action.
The Brigade reassured the public that the Nigerian Army remains fully committed to protecting lives and property by maintaining a robust presence and denying terrorists freedom of movement and logistics support within the operational environment.
