The ongoing recruitment into the Nigeria Police Force has continued to generate mixed reactions as authorities intensify efforts to ensure a transparent and inclusive process.
In Imo State, the recruitment exercise has recorded participation from eligible youths, although stakeholders say increased awareness is needed to boost turnout, particularly in the South-East region.
The exercise, conducted nationwide by the Police Service Commission in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force, is aimed at strengthening manpower and enhancing national security.
Reports show that despite over 400,000 applications received nationwide for about 50,000 available positions, participation from some South-East states remain relatively low.
Some applicants, while expressing their willingness to serve in the Nigeria Police Force, maintain that the recruitment process is guided by merit and the federal character principle.
The recruitment exercise is part of the Federal Government’s broader plan to strengthen the Nigeria Police Force with additional personnel to effectively tackle rising security challenges across the country.
