There is a new twist in the ongoing crisis in the African democratic congress, ADC ahead of its peperations for the 2027 elections as downplayed reports of exit by two of its presidential aspirants, Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso looms. The David Mark-led faction however insists that the party remains focused on its 2027 electoral ambitions.
Information reaching AIT at the weekend, indicates that the camps of Obi and Kwankwaso are considering a move to the newly registered Parties, Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC or the Democratic Leadership Alliance, DLA to pursue a joint presidential bid.
AIT also gathered from both camps that the Mark-led group is facing 11 court cases and internal challenges that may hinder its ability to field candidates in the next general elections.
The sources also stated that the OK movement is engaging on background checks regarding the two new INEC recognised parties especially their leaderships to provide a clean platform towards surviving the 2027 election, assuring the public that the new party will be revealed before the end of the week.
Reacting to the development through a statement by the national publicity secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC dismissed concerns over its viability, describing such claims as distractions and remains committed to its core objective of unseating the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
The opposition also rejected suggestions that it might be unable to participate in the 2027 elections, saying such claims are “entirely unfounded, mischievous, and designed to create confusion.”
Abdullahi further maintained that the party remained compliant with all constitutional and electoral requirements, noting that there were no legal impediments to its participation in the polls.
