UNICEF has raised a fresh alarm over the persistently low access to Early Childhood Education (ECE) in Jigawa, Kano and Katsina States.
The Officer-in-Charge of UNICEF Field Office Kano, Karanveer Singh, raised the concern at a two-day Media Dialogue on strengthening Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE )
Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) encompasses the holistic development of children from birth to age 8, focusing on cognitive, social, emotional, and physical needs through centre-based or home-based training.
During the dialogue, the UNICEF Chief of Field Office Kano Karanveer Singh described early learning as one of the most powerful and cost-effective investments any society can make, stressing that failure to act now would deepen Nigeria’s learning crisis.
The dialogue ended with a renewed call for stronger collaboration between government, civil society, the media, and development partners to ensure that every child in the North-West gets a fair and strong start in life.
