Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has urged European Union, EU member-states to deepen investment and cultural partnerships with Abuja to drive economic growth and development.
Speaking at the EU House in Abuja, Wike emphasised sustained collaboration with the Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA to build a more prosperous capital and country.
The meeting, chaired by Head of the EU Delegation to Nigeria and to the Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS, Gautier Mignot, brought together EU envoys from multiple countries, who engaged the Minister on investment prospects and governance priorities.
Wike highlighted Abuja’s business-friendly environment, pointing to opportunities in real estate, tourism, agriculture, solid minerals, and waste management.
He outlined key FCTA priorities, including infrastructure expansion, improved security, and reforms in land administration, while noting alignment with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu.
On governance, Wike cited electoral reforms and growing reliance on legal mechanisms as signs of democratic progress.
He acknowledged ongoing security challenges but assured continued investment in intelligence, inter-agency coordination, and technology to address insurgency and other threats, while reaffirming commitment to economic reforms and social welfare programmes.
