Media practitioners have been told to embrace the use of artificial intelligence tools and technology, or risk being left behind in the next five to ten years.
Experts made the call during the South Media Week event held in Port Harcourt.
They stressed that AI is rapidly reshaping journalism and media practice globally and urged professionals in the region to adapt, upskill, and integrate the technology into their workflow to remain relevant and competitive.
The South South Media Week brought together media practitioners both young and experienced to learn, relearn, and unlearn, with a strong focus on collaboration and networking.
They also emphasized the need for practitioners to protect their reputation and avoid sentimentality when managing crisis or situations.
The youths were advised not to allow themselves to be used negatively by politicians, especially as the 2027 general elections approaches.
