It is exciting news for Nigerian students seeking admissions into NCE programmes and those seeking admission into National Diploma programmes in non-technology agricultural and agriculture-related courses, as the Nigerian government has now exempted them from further sitting the unified Tertiary matriculation examination, UTME with immediate effect.
The Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa who made this announcement at the 2026 JAMB Policy meeting on admission cut-off marks into tertiary institutions, however said to qualify for exemption the candidates must secure a minimum of four credit in o’level and obtain mandatorilly matriculations number from JAMB
It is the 2026 JAMB Policy meeting and far-reaching decisions and policy pronoucements were made.
These include Exemption of candidates seeking admission into NCE programmes and some National Diploma programmes from sitting dor the UTME. However, applicants must obtain four o’level credits to be qualified. Also, they must register with JAMB to obtain Matriculation number is mandatory.
The meeting equally Maintained the 16 years admission Benchmark
Adoption of Computer-based Test for all entry examinations,and sanctions for institutions who issue admissions outside the central admission processing system, CAPS.
The high point of the meeting was the change from cut-off marks to minimum score of 150 for university admission, 150 for School of Nursing and 100 for Polytechnics and Monotechnics
The meeting adopted a fixed amount of N2,000 for post-UTME.Also admissions is agreed to commence in July.
