The screening committee of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, has concluded the screening of 70 Governorship aspirants for its party primaries ahead of the 2027 elections, as it sets Wednesday to begin the screening of presidential aspirants.
The committee which is chaired by Justina Abanida told AIT.live that all aspirants turned up with the required documents and were all screened while preparing the report for submission.
The screening committee’s secretary, Chile igbaowa said with measures put in place by the leadership of the ADC, no aspirant will be aggrieved as they are all aware that the party encouraged consensus among aspirants.
The aspirants had commended the exercise as transparent, professional and consistent with democratic standards through a fair and thorough process, noting that the committee demonstrated professionalism in reviewing documents and engaging aspirants in critical issues.
Among those screened were former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, from Kebbi State; former Adamawa State Governor, Mohammed Jibrilla, and chairman, Senate Committee on Arts, Culture and Creative Economy, Mohammed Onawo from Nasarawa State. Others are former 2023 Lagos State governorship candidate under Labour Party, Rhodes-Vivour; Dr. Shehu Ahmad Issa from Zamfara State; General John Surai from Plateau and Great Ogboru from Delta State.
Also screened were Adeboyega Adegoke from Oyo State; Haliru Jika from Bauchi State; Kashim Geidam from Yobe State; Musa Ahmed from Adamawa State and Nuhu Agbazu from Nasarawa State.
Wednesday’s screening panel for the presidential aspirants will be chaired by the former governor of Cross River State, Liyel Imoke and former Kwara State Governor, Ahmed Abdulfatai as chairman of the Presidential Election Appeals Committee.
