Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, has dismissed speculations that the APC national leadership will alter results emerging from the party’s primaries in the state.
Speaking during the APC House of Assembly primary at Sampou-Kalama Ward Six in Kolokuma-Opokuma Local Government Area, where he joined other party members in adopting the consensus option for the exercise, the governor assures party faithful that the final outcome will reflect the wishes of members at the grassroots.
The APC House of Assembly primary is conducted simultaneously across the 105 wards in Bayelsa State, South-South Nigeria.
Describing the process as peaceful and rancour-free, the governor also addresses concerns surrounding the yet-to-be announced Senate primary results, insisting that due process will prevail.
Across other wards monitored in the state, the Deputy Governor, Peter Akpe and party stakeholders expressed confidence in the candidates presented by the APC ahead of the 2027 general election.
Bayelsa State will however not participate in the APC governorship primary scheduled for May 21 due to its off-cycle election, while attention now shifts to the party’s presidential primary slated for Saturday, May 23.
