An Assistant Superintendent of Police, ASP attached with the Anambra State Police Command is in trouble after a video of him threatening violence on citizens went viral.
The State Police Command confirmed the arrest of the officer, ASP Newton Isokpehi, who filmed himself threatening to unleash violence on anyone caught filming a Police Officer on duty.
ait live has obtained a clip of the armature viral video from the Police authorities in Awka, the Anambra State capital.
The Command in a statement by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in Charge of Finance and Administration, DCP Ngozi Ezeabata, says the command identified and arrested the officer following a prompt review of viral post.
DCP Ezeabata says inline with the disciplinary standards and ethical code of the Nigeria Police Force, internal disciplinary proceedings had been activated against the officer.
The statement added that the officer has also been subjected to a drug test to aid investigators establish all surrounding circumstances and ensuring a thorough and transparent process.
The DCP stated that the Command condemns the conduct displayed by the officer in the video and reiterates that the Nigeria Police Force is a disciplined institution that will not condone misconduct, abuse of office, incitement or any form of unprofessional behaviour capable of undermining public trust and confidence.

Meanwhile, in a separate video which ait.live is yet to independently verify from the Police authorities, Officer Isokpehi, is seen asking for forgiveness, saying he was misunderstood earlier on.
The Police in the State have not made any official comment on latest video.
