The Gombe State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, is locked in fresh crisis, in the aftermath of its recent governorship primaries.

Aggrieved aspirants are openly condemning what they describe as a deliberate plot to impose a candidate ahead of the 2027 general elections, and warned that the party must prioritize fairness, transparency, and compliance to its own constitution, or brace for a wave of crippling litigations.

Addressing journalists in Gombe, the aggrieved aspirants strongly rejected an alleged plot to smuggle a specific candidate into the primary race. They argued that the move directly violates the established guidelines and constitutional procedures of the opposition PDP.

While the group noted that a consensus arrangement is welcome, they flatly rejected the forceful imposition of an individual who is reportedly defecting from the rival All Progressives Congress (APC).

The governorship aspirants therefore warned that a manipulated or biased internal election will fracture party unity and erode the confidence of loyal supporters ahead of the general polls.

They called on both the State and national leadership of the PDP to intervene immediately to restore the integrity of the process.

Despite their grievances, the Gombe stakeholders reaffirmed their loyalty to the PDP, expressing optimism that the leadership will resolve the dispute to safeguard internal democracy.
