Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has criticised key opposition figures and parties, saying disputes from their primary elections have weakened claims of offering a credible alternative to Nigeria’s established parties.
Speaking at his monthly media chat in Abuja on Monday, Wike said controversies surrounding congresses and primaries exposed contradictions between opposition parties public rhetorics and internaluu practices.
He also addressed issues of public interest, including the PDP crisis, the Rivers State political situation, and developments in the FCT.
The June edition of the FCT Ministerial Media Chat was comprehensive, with key issues surrounding the 2027 general elections and other national matters taking centre stage.
The Minister spoke on the outcome of the recently concluded party primaries, arguing that the flawed processes across political parties demonstrate that opposition candidates have little to offer.
Wike also criticised the reported adoption of former President Goodluck Jonathan as a presidential candidate by the Turaki group, insisting that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has no factions.
The Minister also spoke on the evolving political dynamics in Rivers State, particularly the emergence of the “rainbow coalition.”
Beyond national and regional politics, the Minister confirmed that several infrastructure projects have been completed and are ready for commissioning from June 8, as part of activities marking President Tinubu’s third anniversary in office.
