Uncertainty is mounting within the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC following the conclusion of its nationwide primaries, as the party distances itself from results circulating on social media.
Unverified reports have flooded online platforms, including claims that former Deputy President of the Senate, Ovie Omo-Agege, lost his senatorial ticket, developments that have heightened tension among aspirants and supporters.
One of the aggrieved aspirants for House of Representatives, Okere Nnamdi, has raised concerns over the conduct of the primaries, warning that alleged irregularities could undermine the credibility of the process and pose a threat to the presidential ambition of Peter Obi.
Amid the growing concerns, the national leadership of the NDC has appealed for calm, urging members to disregard all unofficial results in circulation.
In a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, the NDC clarified that the official results of the primaries are yet to be released.
According to the statement, only the National Executive Council, NEC is constitutionally empowered to announce the outcomes of the exercise.
The party further disclosed that a crucial NEC meeting has been scheduled following directives from its National Leader.
He said all NEC members are expected to converge in Abuja for a pre-meeting on Tuesday, June 2, ahead of the main session slated for Wednesday, June 3, 2026.
The NDC assured that the official list of successful candidates will be made public after it has been duly submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
The party has therefore urged stakeholders and the general public to exercise patience and await its official communication.
