Dangote Petroleum Refinery has increased its crude oil processing capacity to 700,000 barrels per day, surpassing its installed capacity of 650,000 barrels and marking a major milestone in its expansion drive.
The achievement underscores the refinery’s growing operational efficiency and strengthens its position as a key player in Africa’s energy sector.
Vice President, Oil and Gas, Dangote Industries Limited, Devakumar Edwin, says the company plans to more than double capacity to 1.4 million barrels per day within the next 30 months, a move aimed at boosting Nigeria’s energy security and expanding exports.

Since commencing fuel production in 2024, the refinery has increased supplies of petrol, diesel and aviation fuel to domestic and international markets, while helping reduce Nigeria’s dependence on imported refined products.
The expansion comes at a crucial time for global energy markets and is expected to support industrial growth, job creation and Nigeria’s ambition to become a major refining hub.
