As Christians across Nigeria observed Black Sunday in memory of victims of insecurity, the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, has renewed calls for urgent action to end the wave of violence ravaging the country.
In a message to mark Black Sunday, CAN President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, described the country’s security situation as one that demands urgent and decisive action from all levels of government.
He said democracy can only thrive where citizens are able to live, work, worship, and travel without fear, noting that the quest for security is central to the nation’s democratic journey.
The association says while the nation celebrates democracy, the protection of lives and property must remain at the heart of governance.
As prayers were offered for the bereaved, the wounded, and those displaced by violence, the Christian Association of Nigeria urged Nigerians not to surrender to fear but to remain united in the pursuit of peace, justice, and national healing.
