The Nigerian Air Force says it is reviewing its operational strategies to maximise the growing capabilities of unmanned aerial systems in the fight against terrorism, insurgency and other emerging security threats.
The Chief of Operations, Nigerian Air Force Headquarters, Air Vice Marshal Nnamdi Amadi, stated this at the Fifth Air Warfare Seminar organized by the Department of Air Warfare of the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji, Kaduna State.
The seminar provides a platform for professional discourse on contemporary air power employment and joint operations, with participants expected to examine how the effective deployment of unmanned systems can enhance operational success in modern conflict environments.
Representing the Chief of Operations of the Nigerian Air Force, Air Vice Marshal Adebayo Bamidele said recent conflicts around the world have demonstrated the growing importance of drones in modern warfare due to their flexibility, persistence, cost-effectiveness and reduced risk to personnel.

He noted that Nigeria’s evolving security environment requires innovative approaches to air operations, particularly as criminal groups and non-state actors increasingly deploy emerging technologies on the battlefield.
Participants at the seminar are expected to develop practical recommendations to improve the integration and operational effectiveness of unmanned aerial systems within Nigerian Air Force operations and joint operational environments.
