Nigeria’s headline inflation rate eased marginally to 15.91 percent in June 2026, from 15.93 percent recorded in May, according to the latest Consumer Price Index report released by the National Bureau of Statistics.
On a year-on-year basis, the June inflation figure was significantly lower than the 25.29 percent recorded in June 2025, indicating that overall price pressures continued to moderate compared with the same period last year.
On a month-on-month basis, headline inflation also slowed, declining to 1.66 percent in June from 1.75 percent in May, suggesting that the pace of price increases eased during the month.
Despite the slight moderation in overall inflation, food inflation remained elevated, rising to 17.52 percent year-on-year. On a month-on-month basis, food inflation accelerated to 3.75 percent in June, up from 2.98 percent in May, pointing to renewed pressure on food prices even as headline inflation showed signs of easing.
