The National Council on Skills has ratified the harmonisation of the mandates of NABTEB and the Industrial Training Fund to support President Tinubu’s industrialisation agenda.
The decision was reached at the Council’s 9th meeting in Abuja on Tuesday, chaired by Vice President Kashim Shettima.
The Vice President said the nation’s training infrastructure must align with industry needs in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The Council also adopted the National Skills Observatory platform to drive evidence-based policymaking and set up a committee to review policy recommendations on skills development and industrialisation.
Speaking after the meeting, the Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa, said the focus is to expand job opportunities for Nigerian youths and streamline the National Skills Qualification Framework.

He added that the Council also discussed the proposed takeover of the Aliko Dangote Skills Acquisition Centre in Kano by the Dangote Foundation.
The Minister of State for Industry, John Enoh, and the Governor of Jigawa State, Umar Namadi, commended the skills programme as key to industrialisation and youth empowerment.

Governor Namadi said sub-national governments are now leveraging the Tinubu administration’s enabling environment to create opportunities across different sectors.
