Friday’s Signing of the electoral act amendment bill into law by President Muhammadu Buhari has been described as a move that will engender clarity, effectiveness and transparency in the Nations electoral system.

These were the views of a Legal Practitioner, Stanley Damabide and a Policy analyst Chief Moses Theophilus in Yenagoa while calling for thorough implementation of all the sections of the law .

The signing of the new electoral act amendment bill into Law by President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday was not just a statutory constitutional exercise but was clearly an affirmation of the President’s ealier resolve to improve the Nations electoral system.

Despite some misgivings on a particular section of the law, the decision of the President to append his signature to the law after declining on a number of occasions, was commended by some Nigerians in Yenagoa.

Although various sections of the new electoral law will improve the Nations electoral system when fully implemented by the electoral umpire, there were however reservations on the overall content of the electoral law as expressed by some Policy analysts.

With the signing of the new electoral amendment bill into law by President Muhammadu Buhari, the Independent National Electoral Commission is now expected to make further directives that will guarantee Political Parties Commitment in achieving credible election in the fourth coming Ekiti and Osun Governorship elections and other critical national electoral exercises.
