Ahead of the 2023 general election and the growing concerns of varying Court injunctions and other unveiling political intrigues; journalists have been charged to maintain outright ethical standards in their reportage.
Former Governor of Delta State, Emmanuel Uduaghan while speaking on the topic;”2023 General Election and Security Challenges/Role of the Media” at this year’s Press Week Lecture/Award Ceremony of the Nigeria Union of Journalists in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State says media practitioners should be well remunerated to avoid being willing tools in the hands of desperate politicians in disseminating frivolous reports.

Emmanuel Uduaghan who noted the essential role of the media in restoring democracy to Nigeria, decried the advent of the social media which has posed greater danger with false information than the traditional media.
The former Governor added that the media has the potential of shaping the political agenda ahead of the general election.
Earlier, Chairman of the Occasion and former Nigerian Ambassador to Norway, Sweden and Denmark; Ambassador Boladei Igali , in his welcome address, urged Nigerians to be wary of the kind of persons they vote into political offices come 2023.
Igali while noting that the choices and decisions taken by eligible voters in the forthcoming general election will either make or mar the steady evolution of the country’s democracy, urged INEC and the Federal government to avoid shoddy actions capable of breeding distrust and destabilization.
