The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has arrested the former Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Nsima Ekere for alleged diversion of funds to the tune of N47 billion through registered contractors.
He was reportedly arrested Wednesday evening.
Ekere was the last substantive MD of the Commission. He stepped aside in 2019 to pursue his governorship ambition on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC losing to incumbent Akwa Ibom Governor, Udom Emmanuel

The NDDC, which has been riddled with corruption allegations has since been without a substantive Board since Ekere’s exit.
In 2020, President Muhammadu Buhari approved a forensic audit. He promised to constitute the Board once the audit probe has been concluded.
But eight months after, the Board is to be constituted neither has the audit report been made public
