The Supreme Bakers and Confectioneries Association of Nigeria says it is working with the Federal Government, some manufacturers and importers of baking materials to cushion the effects of hike in the cost of production on its members and the general public.
President of the Association, Edmond Egbuji in a statement said they recognize that taking up a confrontational stance against the industry’s regulatory bodies or the Federal Government is not the way to go in resolving the price crisis that is affecting not only Nigeria but the global community.

The statement added that “we would rather continue to engage with government in dialogue to fashion out a workable solution that would bring succour to the millions of Nigerians that are going through hard times”.
According to the Abuja bakers, they have no intention to embark on a strike action at the moment as Nigerians deserve to have their burdens lightened. They say bread is one of the common foods for the common man so to forcefully withdraw it from him will be disastrous.
