A Federal high Court sitting in Port Harcourt has adjourned till 31st Of August for the hearing on the suit filed by the Peoples Democratic Party PDP against Accord Party AC, Social Democratic Party SDP, Labour Party LP and others over alleged non compliance with the new electoral act in the conduct of their parties primary elections.
Presiding Judge, Justice Stephen Daylop-Pam had on the 22nd July directed the parties to apply and respond to process and adjourned till 29th of July for hearing before another round of applications.
When the matter was mentioned, counsels representing the parties informed the court that some applications and responses were yet to be filed and replied.
Counsel to Accord Party Abdullahi Mohammed moved a motion seeking to regularize his client’s counter affidavit to the prayers of the PDP.
Abdullahi Mohammed explained why he asked the court to strike out the suit by PDP for wrong filing .
Senior Advocate of Nigeria Femi Falana who expressed worry that the PDP was meddling into the affairs of other parties said he has already filed application to enter appearance for the SDP.
One of the counsels to PDP, Dike Uchenna explained why the court adjourned the date for substantive hearing of the suit.
Governorship candidate of Accord, Dumo Lulu- Briggs urged the PDP to present their candidates for contest if they think they were credible and popular.
Presiding Judge, Justice Stephen Daylop-Pam after listening to Representatives of the political parties involved in the suit directed that all applications and responses be made on or before the new adjourned date which is on the 31st of August, 2022
