The Katsina Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has said it has generated N125 million revenue in August, representing an increase of N25 million from the N100m it collected in July.
The Customs Area Comptroller, Dalha Wada who disclosed this when he addressed journalists at the Customs House added that a total of 29 seizures of food and non-food items were made during the period under review with a Duty Paid Value, (DPV) of N79m , representing a slight increase of N4m on what was raked in the previous month of July.

The Comptroller of the Katsina Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, Dalha Wada, attributed the increase witnessed in both revenue generation and seizures to the intensified patrol strategies and quality information received from the community, which is a sign of an improved working relationship, as a result of the Customs Community Consultative Forum.
Among the seizures made was a trailer load of 650 bags of foreign rice, both in 50 and 25-kilogram bags worth 19 Million Naira in Duty Paid Value alone.
Wada warned that the seizures will continue until smugglers learn to desist from the acts of economic sabotage.
The Comptroller while calling on officers to exhibit professionalism when chasing suspected smugglers noted that the security along the Jibiya-Katsina road has increased as a result of the synergy between all security agencies as well as cooperation received from the public.
Wada further added that the Customs has succeeded in winning 2 cases against some smugglers charged to the Federal High Court.
He revealed that 3 suspects were arrested during the period under review and are currently under investigation.
Items seized during the period include 15 vehicles worth about N36 million in Duty Paid Value as well as 14 other food and non-food items worth about N79 million in Duty Paid Value.
