A new report involving Nigeria, Uganda and South Africa has revealed policy inconsistencies that hamper the journey towards achieving cleaner energy in Africa.
Programme Manager, Climate Change, Corporate Accountability and Public Participation Africa, Olamide Martins who spoke during the unveiling of the report in Lagos said for Africa to get it right, the leaders need to strengthen their commitment by aligning talks with policies.

The report examined the commitments, goals and ambitions of 3 African countries, Nigeria, Uganda and South Africa, particularly at the 26th conference of parties on climate change which was held in Glasgow Scotland and how the countries have fared.
It among other things revealed a lot of policy inconsistencies on the continent raising the need for greater action that aligns with climate policies.
As recent extreme weather events have shown, Africa carries the biggest burden of climate change despite contributing only about 3% to global greenhouse gas emissions.
This, according to climate change activists call for concerted efforts towards addressing the challenge.
The report put together by Corporate Accountability and Public Participation Africa, CAPPA, Africa Institute of Energy governance, Uganda and South Africa Climate Action Network, SACAN, also provides a guide for an African group of negotiators to advance climate justice for the continent at the ongoing COP 27 in Egypt.
