An Abuja Federal High Court has fixed December 1 for judgment in the legal battle between Jimi lawal and Oladipupo Adebutu for the governorship election ticket of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State.
Justice Inyang Edem Ekwo fixed the date after taking arguments from parties in the suit.
Jimi Lawal who contested the May 25 governorship primary election of PDP is challenging the emergence of Oladipupo Adebutu alleging an invalid list of delegates was used by PDP to conduct the election.
Lawal had prayed among considerations that the purported primary election of May 25 be cancelled and another one be conducted with the authentic adhoc delegates list.

Justice Taiwo Taiwo of the Federal High Court in his judgment delivered on July 29 declined to hear the suit of Jimi Lawal on the grounds that the primary election was a domestic affair of a political party and dismissed the suit.
The Supreme Court, however, on November 21 ordered the Federal High Court to hear on merit, the suit instituted against PDP and Adebutu by Jimi Lawal.
In compliance with the Supreme Court order, Justice Ekwo, on Thursday heard the case expeditiously in view of the fact that the case will lapse by December 2.
During proceedings Counsel for Lawal, Kanu Agabi prayed the court to grant the request of his client, while counsel for Adebutu and PDP, Chris Uche who opposed Agabi’s submission, urged the court to dismiss the suit.
