One of the frontline political parties in Rivers State, the Accord, has dragged the state government to court over a threat to seal off its secretariat.
The Accord, amongst other things, is seeking an injunction, restraining the government and or its agents from enforcing its threat to seal off the State Secretariat of the party.
Accord is also asking the court to nullify the Discontinuation Notice, served on the party by the Rivers State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development.

The party in its Writ of Summons is also asking the court to declare that the Rivers State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, lacks the power under the law, to seal off the party’s state secretariat.
The Rivers State chapter of the Accord, also wants the court to declare that the use of the building for party officials did not in any way, violate the Land Fees Regulation 2010, and Executive Order 22 of the Rivers State Government.
The party is praying that the court should set aside the Discontinuation Notice issued to it by the Rivers State Government because it is unconstitutional and unlawful.
The party is also demanding ten million Naira in damages against the defendants.
