Some retired military officers want INEC to make registration and collection of Permanent Voter Cards, PVC, a continuous process rather than waiting till election periods.

The retired military officers said this in reaction to an alleged PVC racketeering at Orozco primary school collection centre in Abuja.

These retired military officers blamed the racketeering business on frustrations associated with the PVCs collection process which they said may disenfranchise some eligible voters from participating in 2023 general elections.

They expressed worries that with less than seven weeks to the 2023 presidential election, most eligible voters are yet to collect their permanent voter cards across the country.

Other eligible voters who came for PVC collection alleged that some INEC Adhoc staff extort money before assisting people to collect their PVCs.

The Electoral Officer in charge of Karu ward, Mustapha Yahaya however denied the allegation assuring the people that all eligible voters will get their PVCs before the commencement of the 2023 general elections.
