Tackling Kidney Disease : Nephrologist Warns Against Intake Of Herbal Remedies, Use Of Bleaching Creams

You may just need to do a rethink on the intake of herbal remedies, also known as agbo, after this report as a Nephrologists at the University of Port Harcourt teaching hospital, Tams Tamunobelema, says it can lead to kidney disease.

He didn’t stop there, but also said the use of bleaching creams, especially those that contain Mercury,
could equally lead to kidney disease.

It is the world kidney day in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State Capital, a day set aside by the international society of Nephrologists to educate and enlighten the public about kidney health.

Globally, the treatment of kidney disease, which is basically dialysis and transplant for patients, is very expensive informing health experts recommendation of regular checks to detect the disease at a very early stage.

Worried about the alarming rate of cases of patients with kidney diseases in Nigeria in recent times, a nephrologist at the University of Port Harcourt teaching hospital, Tams Tamunobelema, warns that people must slow down on the used of herbal remedies and avoid bleaching creams, especially those that contain Mercury if they want to prevent kidney disease.

According to the Nephrologist, some of the commonest factors of kidney disease are diabetes, hypertension, Hiv amongst others.
