Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has facilitated the induction of 128 medical graduates from Ambrose Alli University AAU, Ekpoma, following a recent promise to address the delays in their induction process. The induction ceremony, which has been delayed since August 2024, will now take place on February 13, 2025, after the Governor’s intervention.

The graduates had been awaiting induction for nearly a year after spending almost a decade in medical school, due to persistent challenges at the university. In response, the students staged a peaceful protest at the campus gate and blocked the Benin-Auchi expressway calling for government action to address the delays.

The positive development was shared with journalists by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua.
In the statement, he confirmed that Governor Okpebholo had worked closely with the relevant authorities to resolve the issues and ensure a smooth induction process for the students.

According to Itua the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria had agreed to conduct the induction for the graduates on February 13, 2025, thanks to the Governor’s efforts.

Also the State Commissioner for Education, Emmanuel Paddy Iyamu, expressed his gratitude during a visit to the Medical and Dental Council in Abuja, thanking the Registrar, Fatima Kyari, for her support. He assured the public that Governor Okpebholo and the current administration are committed to addressing educational concerns at all levels in the state.
