The Federal Government of Nigeria has raised the hopes of parents and the authorities of St. Mary’s Private Catholic Primary and Secondary School, Papiri in Agwarra local government area of Niger State, saying that the children are doing fine and will be back soon.
National Security Adviser to the President, Nuhu Ribadu, who gave the message of hope and optimism, was speaking when he visited the Catholic Bishop of Kontagora Diocese and Proprietor of the school, Most Reverend Bulus Yohanna and parents of the abducted children in Kontagora, Niger State.
According to Ribadu, efforts are in top gear and security has been beefed up saying, “the children are where they are and will come back safely. God is with them and God is with us. Evil will never win. They are going to come back, I assure you.
While delivering President Bola Tinubu’s message of hope and assurance, Ribadu said Nigerians must join hands to defeat the common enemy causing havoc in the country.
The NSA added that his visit was a directive from President Tinubu, who shares in their pains and sorrows, hinting that the President was to travel but halted and suspended the trip following the sad news of the abduction.
Ribadu also used the medium to commend Bishop Yohanna for standing firm and remaining unwavering despite frustrations from some quarters about the abduction.
He further assured that the school will remain and survive, and the children will return because “we will provide security in that axis”.
Earlier, Bishop Bulus Yohanna thanked President Tinubu and the National Security Adviser for coming through and giving hope.
He also presented hard copies of the report of the incident to the NSA, after which they went into a closed-door meeting that lasted for about 30 minutes.
The NSA, was accompanied by the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Bernard Doro, Director-General of the Department of State Services, DSS, Oluwatosin Ajayi, and Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Northern Nigeria, Reverend Joseph Hayab.
