An abducted lecturer in the Department of Geography of the Benue State University, Makurdi, Godwin Kwanga, has been rescued by a team of security operatives, in Makurdi the state capital.
Police Public Relations Officer, Sewuese Anene, who confirmed this in a statement, explained that when his abduction was reported, police operatives were deployed immediately to commence an investigation, and a Toyota Highlander SUV belonging to the victim was recovered on the same day, while the investigation continued.

“On 2nd September 2021, at about 10 am, information was gathered that the victim was held hostage at Tse-Anjov Village, Welfare Quarters, Makurdi.
Operatives invaded the hideout and the suspects engaged the police in a gun duel but were overpowered by the police.
The victim was successfully rescued unhurt, while the hoodlums escaped with bullets wounds,” the statement read in part.
She urged members of the public to provide useful information to the police, about any suspected movement of hoodlums, and cooperate with officers who are on the trail of the hoodlums.
The command under the leadership of CP Tunji Akingbola, assured the people of Benue State of continuous efforts to rid the state of criminality, she added.
On Tuesday the 31st of August, Godwin Kwanga left his business premises, along George Akume way, and was reportedly kidnapped by unknown gunmen, and taken to an unknown destination.
