Sanity is expected to return to Umuahia, the Abia State capital in South-East Nigeria following the demolition of illegal markets at the popular Isigate.
This is the second phase of the demolition exercise which started last year with the aim of giving the state capital a facelift.

Addressing newsmen shortly after the exercise, the Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Cosmos Ndukwe accompanied by his Environment counterpart, Solomon Ogunji, stated that the government has already built standard markets for the traders to relocate.

The Commissioner believes that with the demolition of illegal markets at Isigate and the adjoining streets that deface the state capital, there will also be free flow of traffic in the city centre
