The Abia State Government is moving to entrench best practices in the building sector through strict enforcement of extant laws

The State’s Commissioner for Information and Culture, Okey Kanu while briefing newsmen in Umuahia, after the State Executive Council meeting said going forward, prospective developers must secure approval before commencing work on their buildings as the government will not hesitate to demolish any structure that do not meet required standards.

The Commissioner who noted that erection of illegal structures deface the State and caused flooding, warned that the era of building without approval is over.

On education, Mr. Kanu said the government has concluded plans to reconstruct 17 schools with all 17 LGAs in the State expected to benefit from the project.
