The Abia State command of the Nigeria Security And Civil Defense Corps, NSCDC, has arrested a Chinese National and one accomplice in Umunneochi, Local Government Area, Abia State for illegal mining of laterite.
The commandant Usman Alfadarai says the arrest followed sustained surveillance carried out by the operatives of the command, who specializes in mining operations.
Alfadarai says the illegal act being perpetrated by foreigners will not be condoned where the Present administration is serious about revolutionizing the Mining sector to make it easy and attractive for businesses to flourish.

]The commandant vowed to continue working tirelessly to bring all operators in the extractive industry to do the right thing to avoid any breakdown of law and order.
He appreciated the state government and the general public for their continued cooperation in the fight against crime in the country especially in the extractive industry which according to the Abia State Commandant gave rise to the introduction of the special mining Marshall within the Corps.
