The Governor-Elect of Abia State, Alex Otti and his Deputy Ikechukwu Emetu have received their Certificates of Return from the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

Speaking during the event, at the INEC headquarters in Umuahia, the INEC National Commissioner, Festus Okoye commended the people of the state for a peaceful election and charged the newly elected Governor to live up to expectations.

While noting that democracy is grown and nurtured to advance society, Okoye commended the people for protecting Democracy through a credible election.

Governor-elect Otti described the event as the final process of the journey with INEC following his declaration as the winner of the elections held on March 18th, 2023.

He observed that the declaration puts a huge responsibility on him and promised that he will not take it for granted.

Otti commended Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for promising that his party will not go for any litigation and urged him not to do anything that will cause unnecessary tension in the state
