Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu has presented a budget of One Hundred and Fifty-Seven Billion, Five Hundred and Seventeen Million, Five Hundred and Four Thousand, Three Hundred Naira (157,517,504,300 ) for the 2023 fiscal year to the State House of Assembly for consideration and passage into law.
This represents an increase of 6.95 per cent over the 2022 budget.

Presenting the appropriation bill christened “Valedictory, Economic Expansion and Stability Budget” the Governor’s recurrent expenditure is put at Seventy-Five Billion, Forty-Four Million, Seven Hundred and Sixty-Four Thousand, Four Hundred Naira(N75,044,764,400) which is 47.64% of the total expenditure and an 11.73% increase on the 2022 Budget.
Ikpeazu said his administration in the past seven years has recorded modest achievements across several sectors of the state’s economy.
State Assembly Speaker Chinedum Orji commended the efforts of Governor Ikpeazu towards the development of the State and promised an accelerated treatment of the appropriation bill by his fellow legislators.
