Ayuba Abok of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP on Tuesday assumed office as Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly.
This follows his reinstatement on Monday by Plateau State high court presided over by Justice Nafisa Musa, who declared the decision of a few members of the State Assembly to impeach Abok as illegal.
Eight out of 24 members of the Plateau State House of Assembly had on October 28, 2021, removed Ayuba Abok as speaker of the State legislature, a move some analysts described as a political coup.
But Justice Nafisa Musa on Monday nullified Abok’s impeachment and ordered that he be reinstated as the Speaker of the State House of Assembly with immediate effect
Justice Musa also ordered Yakubu Sanda to stop parading himself as the Speaker of the Plateau State Assembly.
