Hundreds of families have been rendered homeless as bulldozers from the Federal Capital Development Authority’s Department of Development Control moved into an estate in Sabon Lugbe area of the Federal Capital Territory pulling down houses.

Some of the affected families who spoke with ait.live said their houses were brought down despite the approval from the office of the Development Control.

Over fifty-five houses were demolished in the estate and many were marked for further demolition.

When the bulldozers from the development control also moved in to continue from where they stopped, they were resisted by members of the estate.

Some of the affected families said their entire life savings were brought down before their eyes rendering them homeless.

Affected property owners are calling on President Tinubu and the FCT Minister to intervene and stop further demolition, which they claim is unjust and targeted at reallocating their lands to other private individuals.

When contacted, the leader of the development control declined comment on the matter.

The residents say the action of the Federal Capital Development Authority is a contravention of their rights as legitimate landowners and want the FCT Minister and President Bola Tinubu to investigate the corruption in the Abuja Department of Development Control and the Abuja Geographic Information System to nip them in the bud.
